Sō means ‘layer’ in Japanese.
The project, made of double-corrugated cardboard, plays with the material’s layering, volume, and shape.
Cardboard is a humble material, used to package and protect other objects; this project makes it the protagonist itself.
The material’s characteristics are expressed in all their potential. The cardboard shifts from line to curve, from straight line to sphere, transfiguring from layer to piece.
Suspended sculptures, sinuous tables, sculptures enclosing vases.
The simplicity of the material draws attention elsewhere, enhancing the intuition and harmony of the forms;
and thus, cardboard from a means becomes an end.
