Ana Hagopian

Ana Hagopian plays with paper, cutting and sticking to create volumes and shapes. Her source of inspiration is nature and its infinite creations, limitless colours and surprising textures. Paper, she says, is contradictory, as it is both provocative and humble. With its roots in the Italian born Arte Povera movement, Hagopian’s research and development with this medium take her back to her childhood and her unique works remind us of the magical things that can be done with such a simple material. Ana’s production process is totally spontaneous, she states, “through my hands I come into contact with the material, which guides me towards the final form.” Ana Hagopian studied Fine Art and Interior Design at the university of Buenos Aires before moving to Spain in 1982. She produced her first paper jewellery collection in 1994, inspired by the collected experience of her travels.
